You can’t outrun the past

For those of us who have had traumatic events in our life, the best way to heal isn’t religion, proving ourselves by being successful, or helping others. It isn’t another new relationship or moving somewhere to start over.

The best way to heal is to stop and be still. Stop trying to keep ahead of the pain, let it all catch up. Feel it, process it and lay it down. If you don’t, you will continue to make bad choices that will cause more hurt that will cause you to want to go forward even faster into more bad choices.

Let the past go. Forgive others and most importantly, yourself. We’ve all made mistakes, we’ve all been through things that have scarred our souls. They will always be there and be a part of who you are, just don’t allow them to make you someone you don’t want to be. You can’t undo the past, but you can slow down and take smaller steps into a better tomorrow. – Coov
